She\u2019s best known as Awkwafina\u2019s mom in Marvel\u2019s <em>Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings<\/em> and most recently appeared in Universal\u2019s horror film <em>Night Swim<\/em>. Broadway: Sondheim\u2019s <em>Getting Away with Murder<\/em>, Rodgers and Hammerstein\u2019s <em>Flower Drum Song, Loose Ends<\/em> with Kevin Kline, <em>The Bacchae<\/em> and <em>Nowhere to Go But Up <\/em>directed by Sydney Lumet. As a TV series regular: Ocha on TBS\u2019s <em>Sullivan & Son<\/em>, NBC\u2019s <em>Miss Match<\/em>, and Margaret Cho\u2019s mother on ABC\u2019s <em>All-American Girl<\/em>. Other TV credits include: <em>Chicago Med, The Blacklist, Falling Water, Sex and the City, Elementar<\/em>y and <em>Eli Stone<\/em>. Other film credits: <em>Beginners<\/em> with Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer, <em>The Tale<\/em> with Laura Dern, <em>The Hot Chick, Patty Hearst,<\/em> and<em> Born on the Fourth of July<\/em>. Jodi\u2019s documentary, <em>Long Story Short <\/em>which she wrote about her show business family and directed by Christine Choy won the audience award at the Los Angeles Asian American Film Festival. Her one woman show <em>Surfing DNA aka American Jade<\/em> has played around the country at Bucks County Playhouse, New Jersey Rep and East West Players in Los Angeles. An Academy member she currently serves on the Executive Committee for the Actor\u2019s Branch.<\/p>","website":"","alt":null}
