Darko Tresnjak won the 2014 Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle awards for his direction of <em>A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder<\/em>, starring Jefferson Mays. He won an Obie Award in 2015 for his direction of <em>The Killer<\/em>, starring Michael Shannon. As a director of plays, musicals, and operas, Darko has worked at the Joseph Papp Public Theater, Theater for a New Audience, Old Globe, Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Royal Shakespeare Company, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Chicago Shakespeare Festival, Vineyard Theatre Company, Atlantic Theater Company, Geffen Playhouse, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Huntington Theatre Company, Long Wharf Theatre Company, Goodspeed Musicals, Westport County Playhouse, Blue Light Theater Company, Hartford Stage, Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and Los Angeles Opera. His favorite productions include <em>Cyrano de Bergerac<\/em>, with Patrick Page; <em>The Merchant of Venice<\/em>, with F. Murray Abraham; <em>The Skin of Our Teeth<\/em>, with Marian Seldes; <em>Rear Window<\/em>, with Kevin Bacon; Der zwerg, with <em>Rodrick Dixon<\/em>; and the Grammy Award-winning production of <em>The Ghosts of Versailles<\/em>, with Patti LuPone. Darko was born in the municipality of Zemun\u2013where the bulk of Rajiv Joseph\u2019s Archduke is set and where the first shots of WWI were fired.<\/p>","website":"","alt":null}
